Oct. has been a very busy month for our family. But it all started in the Middle of Sept. with my operation. I want to take this time to let you all know just how much all of your love and support has ment to me. I thought that each of you are so busy in taking care of your individual families that it would be to hard on you to give me any support. Boy, was I wrong! I have felt each one of your love and support in ways I have never imagined. Thanks for the visits, homecooked meals, telephone calls and housekeeping help that I have recieved. You will never know how this has helped in my recovery and my emotional well being. and Grandpa Johnson. Thanks for supporting your dad, me and each other. Troy has gone on at least three trips for work, Austin had his surgery, Casie had her birthday, I left the hospital and the rehap center, and now Eric and Troy are deer hunting and this year they were able to shoot that deer. Scott was also able to go hunting and shot an elk. Congratulations to our fearless hunters. With Oct. half over and our lives still in a fast forward motion, I just want all of you to know that I am so blessed to be the mother of you, my children and pray every night that we will all remain faithful to the covenants we have made and will be that eternal family to love and live forever. Evelyn Jensen 1913 ~ 2009 Charlotte Evelyn Jenkins Jensen, our much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away Sept. 12, 2009 at the age of 95. She was born September 20, 1913 in Magna, Utah. She married her eternal companion, Ray Burwell Jensen, on December 9, 1934 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1935. They had been married for 67 years when he passed away in 2002. Evelyn was sweet, patient, kind, loving and touched many lives with her wonderful example and charity. She loved being a mom, grandma and homemaker. She served in many church callings and enjoyed temple and missionary work. Evelyn's greatest happiness came from her family. She is survived by her children: Dennis (Delila), Bill (Carlene), Sharlene Buckner (Barry), Randy (Gaylene), David (Colleen); 21 grandchildren; 62 great-grand-children; seven great-great-grand-children; three sisters. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 17, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge 1st Ward, 10200 South 1300 West, South Jordan, UT. A viewing will be Wednesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and on Thursday at the Church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
REED JOHNSON
Reed Talmadge Johnson 1923 ~ 2009 Reed Talmadge Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2009 at the age of 86. Reed was born in Salt Lake City to Reed Taylor Johnson and Bertha Fanny Alfrida Blomquist Johnson on January 28, 1923. He married the love of his life, Irene Morgan, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 21, 1942. Reed loved to garden and took great pride in his beautiful flower beds and bountiful vegetable garden. When not working in his yard, he was always tinkering on some other project. His only vice was ice cream, which he always had on hand and loved to share with his grandkids. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings throughout his lifetime. Next to his family, his church was his greatest love. Reed loved being involved in the Boy Scouts of America in many roles. He was a Silver Beaver Award recipient, which is the highest award given to leaders in scouting and was very proud of this accomplishment. Reed worked very hard to support his family working two jobs for much of his adult life, including working for Harmon's Kentucky Fried Chicken in their very early years. Reed also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for more than 40 years. Reed was proud to have served his country during World War II aboard the Navy's ABSD1 (which was a top-secret floating dry-dock facility) in the Pacific theater. Reed is survived by his seven children: Phyllis (Alan) Keller, Stephen (Kathy) Johnson, Stanley (Debbie) Johnson, Colleen (Dave) Jensen, Darlene (Tom) Porschatis, Edward (Keri) Johnson and Patricia (Mike) Tobin; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grand-children, numerous nieces and nephews. Reed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Irene, a grandson Bradley and two granddaughters, Lisa and Lori. He was also preceded by his parents and his brothers Alvin, Willis and Harold, sisters Violet and Genevieve, and half-sister Greta. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the caregivers from Haven Hospice who gave such gentle, compassionate care during his final months. They would also like to express their thanks to the many employees of Legacy House who also helped care for Reed the past three years. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary located at 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10 at the LDS Wardhouse located at 6364 South 3200 West, West Jordan. There will be a viewing on Saturday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. prior to funeral services. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Park immediately following funeral services.
